01 // Synopsis Inspiration4 was the first human spaceflight to orbit Earth with only private citizens on board. The mission promoted and raised money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The crew and mission intended to raise upwards of US$100 million to expand St. Jude's childhood cancer research.&nbsp; The five-part series follows the mission from Jared Isaacman’s announcement of the mission and select of the three people who fly with him through training. There is dramatic aerial footage of the launch—shot, presumably, from a drone near the pad—looking down as the Falcon 9 lifts off, turning dusk briefly back to day, and following it until the rocket soars past towards space. Then, when her story does. According to the United States Justice Department, Native American women are ten times more likely to be murdered than non-native women.&nbsp; More than one in three has suffered rape, or attempted rape, and more than 80 percent will experience violence at some point in their lives. In 2003, Kipp—a former welterweight who won 38 bouts as an amateur—opened the Blackfeet Boxing Club.&nbsp; The gym has trained more than 500 boxers on the reservation, but for Frank, over time, its most important fighters were the young women and girls, including his daughter Donna, who came in search of more than a heavy bag. They sought a way to protect themselves, and preserve their hopes. The road rumbles ever on behind the fifth tee; a dirt track emerges from the jungle behind the green, sand billowing behind freight trucks and tractors. Food sizzles on stoves set up by street vendors; tourists, mourners and holy men (smeared with ash and paint) head through the entrance to the Hindu cremation site of Pashupatinath, smoke from it twisting into the sky far beyond the sixth green. This situation is common to the sporting landscape. The country is yet to win an Olympic medal. Soccer is popular but mostly as a spectator sport of teams in far-off Europe. And while cricket is gaining popularity, the national team remains a minnow on the worldwide stage. The society is mostly traditional. Women take conventional roles and are rarely seen behind the wheel of any vehicle. In these circumstances, it's not too surprising that not one of Nepal's golf professionals is female. Pratima knows all of this. She understands that to fulfill her dream she must overcome historical, sporting and gender expectations. Yet ask if she wants to play on tour and her response is beautifully simple, as a wide, instinctive smile lights up her face and she says one word: "Yes." <img width="2000" height="1018" a football, teach high school players how to throw, tackle or block? Rob Mendez is doing it as head coach of a California JV team. He knows what he has given his team. He can see how they've grown as players and people. He has heard it from their parents and teachers. But he wonders whether the players have any idea what they've given him. "In life, I feel like I'm always being helped," he says. "They gave me the feeling of being the helper. They gave me a feeling of importance. And that's special because sometimes in this world, on a day-to-day basis, I wish I could do more. And those kids gave me the feeling that I can do anything." 02 // The Film In the months that follow, Mendez unplugs from football. He reads, draws and spends extra time with family and friends. A handful of schools reach out about head-coaching jobs, but he says he's almost certain he will return to Prospect to lead its JV squad again next season. "I don't think I could do that to those kids," he says. "We have unfinished business." The time away from football has given Mendez a chance to reflect on his first season as a head coach. It confirmed how much he despises losing. "The Sobrato loss still bothers me," he says in February. "I think it always will." It showed him how much energy he draws from the kids.
