True South ___

___ Exploring culture and cusine in the heart of the American South

This is show isn’t about sports. Call it gridiron-adjacent. TrueSouth is a cinematic-quality narrative, artfully shot and produced by Bluefoot Entertainment and Seventh Movement. Its goal is to tell stories about the way people gather to eat and share stories, past and present, much the same way fans come together to ebuilently cheer on their favorite teams.
“In sports, we find our tribes, much the same way we find our tribes when sitting down in red vinyl booths to stunningly good fried chicken at Mrs. Girlee’s in Memphis and pork neckbone barbecue in Beaumont, Texas,” said Edge, known as John T., to friends and fans.  If college football is the unofficial religion of the Bible Belt, then TrueSouth deserves to be its hymnal.

The 30-minute program produced by Wright Thompson, directed by Tim Horgan, and hosted by John T. Edge kicks off its second season Sept. 1, making beautiful noise by telling the rich, complicated, always delicious story of the South. It’s arguably the freshest, most interesting food-focused show on TV right now.
